Position Summary
We are looking to appoint a Sustainability Maintenance Manager to proactively support the continuous improvement in Environmental Sustainability of the manufacturing process and particularly achievement of Factory, Market and Zone energy, carbon and water targets. To maintain the factory statutory compliance with its Environmental permit requirements. This role is initially being hired to support ongoing project work at the Dalston site.
Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé Frothy Coffee, Azera, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffeemate
A day in the life of…a Sustainability Maintenance Manager
- Support the management team with tools that provide information on energy and water consumption, and how reductions can be achieved.
- Work proactively with the factory management and project teams to identify opportunities for improvement in plant performance, process, and procedures.
- Use NCE process to communicate environmental performance to the factory and establish energy and water goal alignment through the factory operational review.
- Establish with the factory management teams identifying training needs, develop training plans and implementation for operators to ensure that Utilities objectives can be fully realised.
- Manage the technical specification, design, procurement, and implementation of capital investment projects in the designated zones to meet operational requirements, time and budget constraints.
- Prepare and manage Energy, Steam, Water, Compressed Air, Waste & effluent mapping / drawings in line with Nestlé standards.
- Prepare project charter for GHG reduction and sustainability projects.
- Define Net Zero Carbon Emission Energy strategy and energy architecture of the factory aligned with business, category, brand, and factory priorities
- Investigate opportunities to re-use / recycle water and waste energy, GHG reduction whilst adhering to relevant Nestlé standards, submit proposals to factory stakeholders. Complete capital investment justification if required.
- Manage technical work in the group to ensure that the standards of GMP, Food Safety, Hygiene and Quality are maintained.
- Support group engineering in strategic development of energy and water initiatives for the market, SHE-PM.
- Day to day management of site corporate and statutory Environmental compliance and reporting.

• Determination of methods to minimize the likelihood of injuries or damages to people and/or equipment (SH&E)
• Factory operations (as required) working in conjunction with FI, GA pillar
