Sustainability Consultant
Role Purpose
An excellent opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Sustainability Consultant to join our market leading Sustainability team at CBRE Ltd to sit in our growing ESG Consultancy in London. The current Sustainability, Impact Assessment and Social Value (SIASV) team of circa 20 features highly experienced professionals who advise clients in the UK and EMEA on ESG, Advisory & Certification, Whole Life Carbon and Circular Economy, Health & Wellbeing, Environmental Impact Assessments, Socio-economics and Social value. Whether it be developing and implementing ESG Strategies, creating tailored sustainability frameworks for asset application, delivering certification and health and wellbeing we give clients clear, timely advice to support their corporate sustainability objectives.
The successful candidate will work across a diverse project portfolio. Your role in part will be to support the SIASV team in the delivery of sustainability reviews and BREEAM across different class uses, predominantly commercial and industrial, covering New Construction, Refurbishment and Fit-out and In-Use. You will also be involved in supporting a wider service offering to advise across whole life carbon and sustainability strategy and social value workstreams. The candidate will have an eye for detail and entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to build and manage relationships with external clients and internal colleagues within CBRE, engaging across the property lifecycle to offer strategic, site specific sustainability advice.
This role is for a candidate with experience delivering BREEAM through all project phases (design, construction and in operation) alongside client facing and communication skills.
Key Responsibilities
‒ Based in the London office, working directly with the central London ESG Consultancy team.
‒ Reports into the ESG Due Diligence Lead
‒ Delivers BREEAM In Use pre-assessments and certifications
‒ Supports in the delivery of BREEAM New Construction (NC) and Refurbishment and Fitout (RFO) assessments
‒ Supports the development and communicates strategies for improving sustainability performance at an asset level
‒ Produce reports providing advice to clients and project teams
‒ Review documentation provided by project teams, assess this against the project’s targets and provide feedback
‒ Communicate sustainability requirements to design team members
‒ Support the management and development of relationships with key clients
‒ Attend site visits to review progress against sustainability / BREEAM targets
‒ Review the performance of designated projects and update the team’s project tracker with progress and financial information
‒ Actively seek engagement with external networks and initiatives to exchange best practice and processes and bring back learnings to the business.
‒ Attend and contribute to team meetings and internal CPD sessions
Person Specification/Requirements
‒ A good holistic understanding of sustainability across the built environment with a minimum of 2 years relevant industry experience
‒ A good understanding of BREEAM, ideally with a licence in BREEAM NC, RFO or In-Use. A BREEAM AP qualification would also be beneficial
‒ Experience of BREEAM in-use assessments
‒ Experience undertaking sustainability statements and providing advice through development planning stages
‒ Commercially minded, comfortable developing and nurturing new and existing client relationships
‒ A Sustainability/Building Services/Engineering/Environmental Science related degree would be an advantage
‒ Working on Whole Life / Net Zero Carbon strategies within the buildings sector would be of benefit
‒ Self-assured with excellent communication and presentation skills
