*James is a happy, giggly 17-year-old boy who lives at home in a loving, caring, and fun home with his mum, dad, and brothers. James has a brain injury which has resulted in Cerebral Palsy and Autism, he requires support with all daily activities including personal care. Out of school James enjoys many activities including swimming, trainspotting, and eating out where he loves to people watch and shake hands with others.
Support workers will support James on a 2:1 or 1:1 basis at home and in the community. The role includes helping him to make choices and learn routines using his AAC and Makaton signs (full training given) and ensure he is kept active using his walking frame to get out and about. Working with James is a really enjoyable and rewarding role, you will have full support from family, case manager, team leader and therapists.
The family are moving to an adapted house with dedicated rooms for his care team. James is expanding his team and looking for support workers to join his fantastic, dedicated team on a part time basis (hours to suit).
Shift Pattern:
- Before and after school
- Sleeping/waking nights
- Weekends
- 24hr care in the school holidays
Hourly Rate:
£13.00 Starting salary (£13.50 after 6 month probation) – Monday to Friday
£15.00 Starting salary (£15.50 after 6 month probation) – Saturday/Sunday
Sleeping nights – national minimum wage (currently £9.50)
Waking nights hourly rate.
Core hours currently
- 06.30 - 09.00am – Enhanced pay due to short hours
- 15.00 – 20.30pm - Monday-Friday
- 09.00 – 20.30 – Weekends and school holidays
When the family move into their new home (hopefully March 2023) the shifts will be:
- 15.00 – 20.30pm – After School
- 20.30 – 9.00am – Waking/Sleeping nights
Duties:
● Personal care
● Moving and handling at home and in the community
● Follow therapy routines and programs
● Waking nights initially but aiming for sleeping nights.
