About the role

Alder Close Supported Living & Respite is based in the town of March and Supports tenants in a range of bungalows and houses at Alder Close and Cornmill, March.

The role of Support Worker is to enable adults with a disability to live as independently as possible and to enjoy lifestyles as close to those enjoyed by other members of the community.

We support and empower individuals to enhance the quality of their life, maximise potential and to continue to promote and develop independence skills within their home or whilst staying at Respite.

What will you be doing?

You will report to the Senior Support worker and work in a small team to provide practical support, you will build on their existing skills and abilities whilst respecting their individual needs and choices.

This includes supporting with personal care where needed, cleaning, shopping, and accessing community activities and opportunities. The role will involve administration of medication.

You will be using IT to update documents such as support plans, risk assessments and will have a good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and assessments of capacity.

The shifts are on a 4-week rota which could be subject to change to meet service need. These will be during the week, at weekends or Bank Holidays (between 8am- 10pm.), additional enhancements are paid for weekends and Bank Holidays. You will be required to work two weekend shifts, twice a month and complete a sleep in shift. This post of for 30 hours per week.

The starting pay for the posts is £11.18 per hour with enhancements for Sat £16.78, Sun £19.92 and bank holidays £22.38

About you

You will need to have a proficient level of written and spoken English for the purposes of case recording and to enable you to work towards a qualification in Health and Social Care if you do not already hold this qualification.

As a Support Worker, you will not need to have experience of supporting a person with a disability as training will be provided for the right candidate.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as IT skills are required.

Also, an ability to demonstrate awareness and understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion, Mental Capacity Act as well as the need for safety and confidentiality in the role.
