Title: Support Worker
Starting Salary: Living Wage £10.90 per hour
Responsible to: Regional Manager (Line Manager)
Contract: Funded until 31st March 2024 at 18 hours per week
Locations: Paisley
Requirements
- Must be able to work from Monday to Friday and other hours flexibly as needed
- Subject to a successful PVG scheme record check
Food Train is a Scottish Charity supporting older people living at home in Renfrew and across Scotland. The Support Worker will assist volunteers in service delivery, shopping in the supermarket and out on the van delivering, and staff colleagues in general admin around the office. This is a varied and busy role but great fun and a genuine chance to help older people in the community.
Duties
- Reception and telephone duties
- Cash handling and banking duties
- Photocopying, filing and mailing duties
- Any other general office task
- Assist in the collection of customer shopping lists
- Assist in the stores making up grocery orders
- Assist in the delivery of customer orders
- Support, assist and advise local branch based staff and volunteers
Person Specification ~Essential
- a motivated and enthusiastic individual
- excellent communication skills
- basic office skills and experience of Microsoft applications
- a real ‘people person’ with a ‘can-do’ approach
- ability to work on own initiative and part of a team
- some understanding of the voluntary sector
- motivation to work with older people in the community
Person Specification ~ Desirable
- experience working in the voluntary sector and with volunteers
- experience working in service delivery
- experience of accounting software and systems
- awareness of older people’s health and wellbeing issues
