We are looking for Support Workers who care about making every moment matter for the people we support in our residential service.

Position: Support Worker

Salary: £11.00 per hour

Location: Sunderland (SR6 post code)

Hours: 40 hours per week, a mixture of day & night shifts

About our service

We are an 8-bedroom residential home based in Sunderland. Delivering bespoke packages of care to people diagnosed with various complexities, autism, learning difficulties, and epilepsy. We offer high quality training in autism awareness, epilepsy, medication, and person-centred training for those who require it.

In our most recent CQC report we received some incredibly positive feedback from family members. Relatives told us they felt their family members were “safe living at Park Lodge – Swanton Care.” Relatives we spoke with told us staff were “kind and caring.”

About you

Are you enthusiastic, compassionate and committed to supporting people in a way which respects their dignity?

Ideally you will have previous experience supporting people with learning disabilities, although full training will be provided. You will need to be adaptable, flexible with excellent communication skills and able to work as part of our team.

The Role

  • To provide practical assistance and emotional support to empower the people we support to achieve their goals and aspirations, respecting everyone’s individuality and enabling them to make appropriate choices to live the life they wish, in line with their individual support plans.
  • Promote the health, well-being, physical, emotional, cultural and spiritual beliefs of the people we support and ensure they are met in an inclusive way.
  • Facilitating social, educational or work activities such as visiting family and friends, walks, shopping and other recreational activities of their choice.
  • General housekeeping duties that can include shopping, domestic duties as well as elements of personal care.
  • As part of the role, you will need to be able to complete a range of records and documents.
