Job description
We are currently seeking to recruit a friendly and trustworthy support worker to work alongside a family, therapy team, and case manager to support a delightful 12-year-old boy with complex care needs, in his own home. He is registered blind and has significant learning needs. He is also wheelchair dependent and relies on a hoist for transfers. He enjoys lots of sensory stimulation and community activities.
You will need to have had some experience of working with children, preferably within the community and with Brain Injuries, with a minimum of 3 years overall experience working in the care sector as a carer. Full training on the child’s specific needs will be given.
It is important that the support worker can commit to working flexibly to a rota across 7 days/ nights of the week, ideally this will include 3 x shifts per week. There will also be ad hoc overtime available.
Shift patterns include:
- 0730 – 21:00
- 21:00 – 07:30
- Split shifts during school days 07:30 – 10:30 & 14:30 – 21:00 (with retainer rate paid for 4 hours per shift if both shifts are worked).
We aim to offer a competitive salary of £13.48 - £16.05 per hour, depending on experience and shift times/ days.
This is an excellent opportunity for a support worker to join an extremely rewarding package of care where you will have an opportunity to help transform the life of a family whilst developing and maintaining professional working relationships. By joining this family, you will be playing a key part in helping to develop the child’s goals and day to day activities. If you think you have the skills and experience required for this post, we would love to hear from you.
