Job description
Support Workers
Full Time / Part Time positions available
Location: New Milton BH25
Pay: £11.03ph
We are currently looking for creative, caring, and passionate support workers to join our team to support 4 active gentleman who share their own home in New Milton.
Let's find out a little more about the people you will be supporting.
**Nathan ** is a charming and polite 23year old man, has just moved into supported living to learn new life skills and become more independent, both within his new home and in the community. Whilst he has great independence in certain aspects of his life, for example he can travel on public transport without support, Nathan is seeking happy support workers who will help him find calmness when he becomes anxious if there is too much going on, and support him to find his way through issues or disruption. He enjoys his day centre on a Monday and Friday and is waiting for you to come on board to share all his other interest.
**Paul** is a rather amazing 40 year old with Asperger's Syndrome, who has the best sense of humour and loves nothing more than to hear funny stories whilst enjoying a drink at his local pub. He has a keen interest in gadgets, computers, cameras, and phones. His greatest passion is photography, he loves taking photos and then uploading them to his computer - if you share this passion then Paul would really like to meet you! Paul is an very open in his communication and seeks your support to help him understand boundaries around personal space. He can become quite low in mood, or anxious, if he is left alone too long so your companionship is very important to him. He comes from a very close family and enjoys speaking to Mum each day and enjoys regular visits with his family. Paul had such a good experience at his school that he has returned there to work, and does this on a Thursday & Friday.
**Steve** , 33 year old young man has a severe learning disability, scoliosis of the spine and autism and he needs the support of his team over each 24-hour period. Whilst he has limited verbal communication he uses Makaton, objects of reference and his communication board to enable him to communicate with those around him. **Steve's** family is very important to him, and he loves spending time with his mum, sister, and aunty. He really enjoys his computer and having a variety of activities to do, such as forest walks, going to the library, yoga, music, DVDs, swimming lessons.
**Bill** is 44-year-old gentleman with autism and mild learning disabilities. He has a great personality, and he can speak Spanish fluently - so if you are able to do the same then he would love to meet you! He really enjoys going to Weatherspoons for lasagna, going to the library, listening to music, computers, writing letters, swimming and going on regular days out. Bill can struggle to regulate his emotions and interpret the world around him which has caused him to display behaviours of distress when he has felt overwhelmed. That said, when his team get to know him, and understand how to support him through hid anxiety, Bill is learning to cope when he does feel unsettled. He is seeking a support team who are able to show him compassion and empathy, so he feels safe and secure within his home and when out in the community.
