The role:
As a Support Worker, you’ll deliver excellent care for adults with mental and physical health needs, celebrate achievements, encourage fun and creativity and engage directly with our wider community. This is more than just a job – you’ll be helping the individuals we care for gain independence and live healthy, happy and fulfilling lives.
You will support people both in their home and in their local communities and we have a range of working patterns to suit you, including full time, part time and flexible opportunities.
As a support worker you will also have responsibility to provide customers with personal care, demonstrate empathy, dignity, respect and compassion at all times.
Responsibilities:
- Administer medication in line with medication policy and the individual’s care plans.
- Support people with regards to decision making and lifestyle choices enabling them to take control of their own lives, increasing independence.
- Ensure all personal care tasks are carried out in line with the needs, wishes and preferences of the individual, following the care plan.
- Support people to take an active role in the community by accessing local facilities and wider community resources in the spirit of social inclusion.
- Support people to develop and expand social networks and friendships.
- Work with individuals to promote healthy lifestyles, by liaising with local health care professionals. Work in partnership with care managers and other professionals to maximise quality of life for individuals.
- Develop positive relationships with family and carers.
- Work in line with the company’s Adult Protection and Prevention of Abuse Policy and Whistle Blowing Policy to ensure that people are always kept safe.
- Ensure the security of the building and the safety of the people living in the home.
- At all times to work within equal opportunities policy and procedure.
- To be always flexible and responsive and to meet the changing needs of the service and the customers.
- Values and Attitudes Support individuals in a non-judgemental way based on the principals of Anti discriminatory practice.
- To treat individuals with respect and encourage them to express their individuality.

- Work in a way that meets the statutory requirements of employees under health and safety at work. Enter actively into supervision and appraisal.
- Attend training on a regular basis to ensure that all mandatory and personal training and development needs are met in line with company requirements. To attend monthly staff meetings or as and when needed for the customer.
- To manage petty cash/finances and keep a log/record of all expenses and outgoings.
**The role is also subject to an enhanced DBS check.
