What’s in it for you:
GMI Construction are looking for an IT Technician Apprentice to support the Service Desk. This role will give you experience of site visits in the future in order to fix and maintain networks. This is a very hands on role and a perfect start in IT.
You will be responsible for:
- Prioritising assigned tasks dependent on agreed service levels
- Assisting in the standardisation of company documents / information for effective storing on Microsoft SharePoint
- Digitising existing information for use on new Business Systems as they are implemented
- Providing IT Helpdesk first line support both face to face, email and over the phone
- Logging IT assets (hardware and software) in the IT Helpdesk and supporting IT audits of hardware in use across the business
- Providing assistance on IT hardware setups on construction sites and attending offices across the business to provide effective support
- Performing other support tasks as shown or requested by senior technical staff
- Resolving faults and answering queries as requested by senior technical staff within the time frames requested
- Providing support to and assist IT technical team personnel, as necessary
- Escalating more complex calls to the relevant internal or external support personnel
- Maintaining a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhering to service management principles
You will need the following skills:
- Strong communication
- Ability to hold confident conversation with different levels of stakeholders
- Full driving licence with car (Car allowance of £3000 provided on top on salary)
- Ability to problem solve
Entry requirements:
- 3 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades 4+ (A-C) in any subject
- GCSE Maths and English (or equivalents) at grades 3+ (D or above)
- Prospective apprentices must not hold an existing qualification at the same or higher level as this apprenticeship is in a similar subject
You may also have a combination of qualifications and experience which demonstrate the minimum foundation needed for the programme. In this instance you could still be considered for the programme.
If you hold international equivalents of the above qualifications, at the time of your application you must be able to provide an official document that states how your international qualifications compare to the UK qualifications.

Working week:
Monday – Friday. Rota times are 7.30am - 4.30pm or 8.30am -5.30pm
Future prospects:
GMI are in a high growth period with a large growing IT department. We will provide full support to progress onto the Level 4 apprenticeship.
