About us

The Information Services Division (ISD) is the primary provider of IT services to UCL. We support and enhance learning, teaching, research and administrative processes by providing information- and technology-related services to over 50,000 staff and students of UCL and associated institutions.

Our ambition is to be the leading IT services group in the HE sector and we are growing our team’s capability in experience/UX, agile development, security, cloud, service management and partnering. We are modernising our technology foundations, digitising the processes of the university to transform experience for students and staff, and partnering across the university to drive differentiation in UCL education and research.

Within ISD, this post is in Faculty IT & Partnering which provides local specialist applications and systems support and IT strategic business partnering for users in across our Faculties.

About the role

Our Faculty IT & Partnering team are currently recruiting an (Faculty) IT Support Specialist to help support the activities of the Faculty of Brain Sciences.

As an IT Support Specialist, you'll be based onsite providing customer focused support both in-person and remotely across the faculty for a range of IT services. You'll also proactively engage with customers to develop ways in which IT can improve their work through sharing your knowledge and developing specialist solutions for academic users.

Additionally, as we have adopted an Agile working environment you'll be part of the Faculty IT product team contributing to the support and development of the portfolio.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Actively engage with customers to identify opportunities for improvement – Not waiting for the customer to come to you, you will actively seek out ways in which IT solutions can improve your customers ways of working.
  • Providing support for standard IT services. Day to day IT support will form a significant part of this role. Often you will be the best placed person to provide the solution and will need to maintain and utilise your general IT support skillset.
  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support, through problem diagnosis as well as monitoring and maintaining security of IT systems and services.

In the event we get a high number of applications, we may close the advert early before the published closing date. As a minimum we will keep all adverts open for 2 weeks.
