In a drive to promote inclusion for children across the county, Lancashire County Council has created a brand-new Inclusion and Engagement Support Team (IEST) to work specifically with children and young people who are at risk of exclusion and are struggling to access education. This role will support across all key stages and this role will be county-wide.

Our highly skilled team, work in partnership with schools, parents and other agencies to help young people in Lancashire to access learning, achieve the best possible outcomes and prepare for independent adult life.

We want to recruit Inclusion Learning Mentors who will support the expansion of the current Inclusion and Engagement Support team with a specific focus on those with SEND but without an Education Health and Care Plan. The successful candidate will support schools to ensure pupils receive a full-time suitable education.

  • Provide SEND specialist support.
  • Be able to contribute to the intervention and support plan for young people with a range of special educational needs.
  • Advise school teams on suitable personalised approaches.
  • Work with other agencies.
  • Monitor the impact of the individual programme and the service.

We are looking for exceptional individuals who:

  • Have strong moral SEND values with the vision and determination to make a difference.
  • Have experience of working with children and young people with ASD/ SEMH needs.
  • Have experience of successfully supporting children and young people who exhibit challenging behaviour.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Can work in partnerships with the inclusion teacher, family and schools to design, plan and deliver interventions to support access to high quality full time suitable education.
  • Are proactive team members to be able to work flexibly in supporting pupils with an EHCP who are in crisis or at risk of exclusion.
  • Can confidently model teaching approaches to school staff and raise standards for children with SEND.
  • Successful applicants will be able to demonstrate how they have successfully supported children with SEND and associated challenging behaviours and can provide details of the interventions used.

This post will involve some online working from home as well as direct face to face work with pupils across the whole county.
