Job description
This role is part of our DevOps team, and you will have the opportunity to learn about our internal systems and infrastructure. This is a full-time position based in Vancouver, BC that will work at least 3 days per week (Monday - Wednesday) from our Yaletown office.
About Eventbase
Are you ready to join the industry leader in live event technology?
What You'll Do
- Assist colleagues with common software / configuration issues on their work machines, and escalating to the rest of your team (or other teams) as needed
- Troubleshoot and diagnose hardware issues with employee computers
- Be approachable for help, and provide timely assistance and instruction as needed
- Monitor the performance of our office network, diagnose and resolve issues as they arise
- Maintain an accurate inventory of our IT assets and accessories (employee computers, test devices, displays, SIM cards, peripherals etc)
- Equipment recycling and data removal for devices that reach end of life
- Manage access requests for internal tools, office productivity suites, phones, and more
- Own the repair process for broken down or damaged equipment. This includes guiding employees through shipping their equipment back to us, backing up data, coordinating repairs through third parties, and making sure we have spares to keep employees online
- Onboarding: own our onboarding processes including setting up computers, ensuring accessories are ready, packaging and shipping new employee kits
- Offboarding: ensure access changes are made quickly and accurately, reclaim + refresh equipment and backup data as needed
- This role requires you to work out of our Yaletown office Monday - Wednesday
Who You Are
- You are cool under pressure. Sometimes things break when we need them the most, and you will work the issue methodically until it’s resolved
- You are excited to learn new things! Eventbase has a mosaic of IT resources, and you’re keen to learn about how to use, maintain, repair and deploy them over time
- You are a people person. As the face of IT, it's important that you like working with and helping people. You know that a lot of time IT issues might lie with the user rather than the machine, and you can help people without making them feel silly
- You value security and discretion. Eventbase works with many of the world’s largest organizations and we place a high value on security and trust. As a member of the DevOps team, you will help define and uphold the company's approach to privacy
- You read error messages and enjoy trying to find solutions
Required Skills
- Strong Mac hardware and macOS knowledge: nearly all of our employees use Apple machines. You should be comfortable troubleshooting common macOS software and Mac hardware issues. You don’t necessarily need to have repair experience
- Intermediate network skills: you should understand the basics of an office network (what are routers, switches, access points, VPN etc). It’s OK if you don’t know the ins and outs – the team will help you learn over time.
- Bonus: Experience with Mobile Device Management (MDM), Software Defined Networking (SDN / Meraki / Ubiquity / etc). If you’re familiar with the terminal, have used SSH and or Docker, that's great, too.
