Eaton’s EPG EAS Electrical Automation Solutions division is currently seeking a IT/Lab support Specialist.
What you’ll do:
Summary
You will leverage strong technical and analytical skills working independently, as part of a group, and collaboratively with other teams to identify, troubleshoot and resolve a range of complex technology issues. You will identify opportunities for innovation in process efficiency. You will participate in various types of projects. You will collaborate with other teams to continually identify, design and implement enhancements.
You will be called upon to manage requests and support server and virtualization environments. You will have to interact with different network management and storage teams. You will of course have to take care of the installation and configuration of systems in addition to performing operations and support tasks, as well as participating in change management in our site.
- Provide direct supervisory oversight of all labs and the engineering server room (IDF) activities and safety
- Ensure the updating of the inventory of the labs and of the IDF.
- Serve as a local point of contact for IT.
- Debugging and resolving internal IT problems.
- Maintenance, support, and setup of infrastructure (including real and virtualized systems).
- Rack & cabling cleanup, re-configuring equipment and decommissioning of old equipment.
- Monitoring of automated system backups and UPS.
- Improve network solutions and related processes applicable to LAN, Telephony & Voice solutions.
- Coordinate services and monitoring to prioritize and ensure high network availability and performance.
- Contribute to the planning and support of network security.
- Support periodic operational activities such as business continuity planning and testing as well as ongoing improvement initiatives.
- Actively participate in IT projects.
- Use standard procedures and tools to perform established services and maintenance tasks.
- Implement solutions, modifications, installations and carry out maintenance work.
- Perform development activities on the servers (installations, modifications, etc.).
- Ensure the development and updating of procedures and documentation.
- Manage disk spaces.
- All other tasks requested by the manager.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
Post-secondary education in a field related to the position, such as (but not limited to) Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Computer Engineering Technology.
Minimum 5 years hands-on IT experience with executing virtualization projects/migrations.
Experience in lab management and lab activity, understanding and awareness of lab safety protocols including but not limited to high voltage safety, PPE, cleanliness standards, etc.
Strong knowledge of UPS technologies.
Strong knowledge of Virtualization: Managing server virtualization technologies like VMWare Server.
Strong knowledge of System/Network Architectures: Managing and build servers, experience with Microsoft products.
Good knowledge of Network Security.
Skills:
Technical knowledge
Excellent Network skills with LAN, WAN and Core networks.
Excellent knowledge of Cisco Firewalls, Routers, Switches and VLAN’s as well as Wireless technologies.
Excellent troubleshooting skills of LAN/WAN network and application performance response time.
Good knowledge of TCP/IP Networking, including DNS, HTTP, DHCP and dynamic routing.
College degree in network management and system security or computer technology.
Experience with Virtual Machine technology including installation and configuring VMs.
Certifications:
- CompTIA (ITF+, A+, Network+, Security+, Server+).
- ITIL Foundation.
- ISACA Computing Fundamentals.
- VMware Certified Technical Associate.
