Who are we?

We support more than 5,000 people living in sheltered and supported housing or in their own homes. We are passionate about our staff and believe in caring for them in the same ways we care about our service users.

We offer housing related support to young adults’ age 16 – 24 living in our supported accommodation schemes in Kent and floating support in the community. Our Younger People’s service is currently looking for a Support Officer to join our dynamic team in Rochester on a permanent full time basis. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced support officer who enjoys a varied role.

What you’ll be doing

In this varied and dynamic role, you’ll empower the people we support to have active and fulfilling lives aligned with their needs and aspirations. You’ll need to evidence an understanding of the issues facing Young People and be committed to supporting them to develop their confidence and maximise their independence.

A major part of your role will be to take a person centred and therapeutic approach to help young people overcome the challenges they are facing. Creating programmes and helping them to gain the help and skills they need to become positive and successful members of their local community.

As a Support Officer, you’ll play a key role in delivering a quality service and achieving positive outcomes. You’ll be a positive role model and you will bring our values to life and share our passion and commitment to always strive to find creative ways to enrich the lives of those we support.

What you’ll need

You’ll possess excellent communication skills, the ability to interact with young people from diverse backgrounds and liaise with a wide range of professional services and agencies in the community.

We’re looking for people who have previous experience of providing housing related advice as well as an understanding of the pressures facing young people, particularly around homelessness.

You’ll be passionate about making a genuine difference in lives of Young People and staying positive and seeing the best in Young People.
