Do you have a passion for supporting others and would like to make a difference to people affected by cancer?
If so, we have a fabulous opportunity for you as a part time Support & Information Officer in our Charitable Operations team at our centres in Norwich, including our new Dereham Road centre and the centre on the grounds of Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital. In this role you can put your listening and advising skills to use supporting someone with a cancer diagnosis or their loved ones.

As a regional cancer charity, Big C are dedicated to supporting anyone affected by cancer in Norfolk and neighbouring counties whilst working with key partners in research and healthcare to improve future outcomes.

There are an estimated 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK. 1 in 2 people will get cancer in their lifetime. Big C seeks and implements new approaches and projects to make sure that no one is missing out on the opportunity to access our support.
Big Cs work focuses on 6 key areas:

  • Support for people affected by cancer

  • Equipment provision for the regions main acute hospital trusts
  • Education provision of interventional and presentational education programmes
  • Income Generation raising vital funds to improve the lives of people living with cancer
  • People Big C service users, their loved ones, Big C trustees, staff, volunteers and fundraisers

About the role
Our Support and Information Officer's enhance the wellbeing of Big Cs service users through the provision of cancer information and support; in person, by telephone and/or video calls, facilitating support groups and referring the users to other beneficial services, such as our physical activity program, health walks, counselling and our wealth of holistic complimentary therapy services.
The working hours are 28 hours per week to be worked flexibly over 4 days. The salary is £15,520.00 to £16,248.00 per annum* (£19,400.00 to £20,310.00 full time equivalent)*. Subject to eligibility/scheme rules, benefits include:
