Job description
We have an exciting opportunity in a leadership role. The successful candidate will be a registered Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist that will lead and manage the medicines procurement, supply, and distribution service. These services are provided by external provider(s) through a contracted agreement at NELFT, and therefore will require skills in contract management. In addition, NELFT have deployed automated medicines management systems (Omnicell) in almost all of their inpatient units, and this post holder is the system manager for these cabinets
NELFT Pharmacy Service is on a journey of continuous improvement and is becoming increasingly recognised as an innovative department, that is focused on improving quality for the communities it serves. We employ a growing team of over 50 pharmacy professionals alongside excellent support staff. We deliver services across London, Essex and Kent and are responsible for community and inpatient service provision for mental health and community health services.
Applications are invited from operationally excellent and dynamic pharmacy professionals, ideally working in secondary care, who are passionate about service quality, leadership, and innovation.
- Manage the outsourced pharmacy medicines procurement, supply and distribution service contracts on behalf of the Trust
- Manage efficient delivery and continued development of the Pharmacy Department’s medication dispensing services to wards, departments, and patients
- To support the delivery of the financial improvement schemes and work closely with the Trust Procurement, Contracts and Finance Business Partners.
- To be the recognised systems manager for Omnicell, WellSky Stock Control Module and Comark Wireless Temperature Monitoring, working closely with the Pharmacy Informatics Team to continually develop functionality and improve ways of working.
- To oversee the operations and smooth running of the administrative tasks of the department through the management of the Pharmacy Business Support Function.
We continue to encourage all staff to ensure that they have been double vaccinated and received their booster. We recognise that taking the vaccine provides the best defence against COVID 19 for our patients, our staff and their families.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (minimum payment of £4,313 and a maximum payment of £5,436 per annum pro rata).
