Repairs and Maintenance Service are recruiting a Supplies Assistant to join an existing team.
The Role of Supplies Assistant
To provide a professional, efficient & cost-effective Supplies and Logistics service to the required standards. Satisfying performance targets and working in compliance with SCC Health & Safety policies and other health & safety legislation. Excellent standards of good practise and working collaboratively with other business units to maintain and demonstrate continued improvement to the Supplies & Logistics service.
Provide a support service to obtain materials, to ensure the purchasing and supply process is in accordance with operational needs and provides value for money. Build close working relationships with all Business Unit stakeholders and SCC officers to ensure effective supply chain delivery and management.
Key Essential Skills and Person Specification
- Practical experience of using IT to deliver operational requirements and as an analytical and management tool
- Ensure that all Sheffield City Council agreements are utilised effectively to deliver best value
- Awareness of good health and safety practices and the application of safe systems of work
- We are looking for motivated people who have excellent customer service, communication, organisational and IT skills. You need to be able to work using your own initiative as well as being a good team player; know how to prioritise your workload and meet tight deadlines; can work under pressure; own a problem or task through to completion.
- A key skill in this role is having good organisational and customer service skills. The successful applicants will need to demonstrate energy and commitment to provide a professional service.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Use I.T equipment to enter data into SCC Warehouse Management System.
- Goods Inwards unloading delivery vehicles and checking goods against PO & GRN.
- Operate Reach & Counterbalance Forklift Trucks
- Operate as a Banks Person when required
- Complete Van Sock material replenishments using Hand Held Wequipment
- Service Trades Operatives on the materials collect counter
- Complete Van stock material audits using Handheld Equipment
- Complete perpetual warehouse stock audits using Handheld Equipment
- Drive SCC Commercial vehicles when required to deliver/collect materials
- Provide cover for the Waste Recycling Facility
- Maintain warehouse security and stock probity
- Day to Day material request picking using Handheld Equipment
