Mary is a lovely sweet lady who requires support to be hoisted 4 times a day to receive support to change her pad.
May has a commode that she can be hoisted onto as well.
Mary requires all meals to be prepared for her and snacks and drinks at every visit.
Mary is seen regularly by the DNs as she has cellulitis in her legs and can often have these bandaged.
Mary requires additional support with washing, dressing. Mary independently brushes her teeth but has a small denture plate that she requires support with and a hearing aid.
Mary has a great sense of humour and enjoys talking but often sleeps a lot.
Mary loves spending time with her children.
Mary’s son Damon has a dog which visits regularly with him.
Light housework is required and general companionship.
A gantry hoist is on order from the OT and will be fitted in her bedroom soon, but the mobile hoist will still be required.
Male client
Jessie is a strong-willed man who is very caring. Jessie loves to have long conversations about his time spent in Malaysia and India and his journey studying dentistry.
Jessie has been caring for his wife, Mary for a few years now but he is struggling with his own health now and he also requires additional support, even though he would never admit this!
Jessie has a great sense of humour and is very outspoken. He doesn’t mince his words! If he’s not happy about something he will tell you. Jessie is funny and has everyone laughing because he’s so honest.
Jessie requires support with making all of his meals, although he does still make his own porridge in the morning (he enjoys doing this for himself). Jessie requires his medication to be administered. Jessie currently has his legs bandaged as he has cellulitis and this is monitored and treated by the DNs. Jessie had a fall in 2022 trying to help Mary, after she had had a fall. He damaged the vertebrae in his back and this has caused Jessie to have constant back pain. Jessie walks with a 4 wheeled walker and if he goes to appointments, he requires a wheelchair.
Jessie has 3 children who are always visiting.
The LIC would need to be able to administer medications, cook, have a sense of humour and not be offended by Jessie’s honesty. They would need to be able to complete light housework, shopping and collect prescriptions when required.
