The role : Quantitative Data Specialist Intern to join the New Product Development and Research Team for a 10 week internship program. The successful hire will have the technical capabilities to manipulate and wrangle both structured and unstructured data, run statistical modelling on the underlying data and present findings to the broader organization. This position reports to the Head of New Product Development & Research and will sit on the New Product Development and Research team within Company Information Analytics (CIA) and is part of the Data, Valuation, and Analytics (DVA) organization with S&P Global Market Intelligence.

The Team: Members of the S&P Global New Product Development and Research Team are experts in conceiving and building client solutions. Spanning public and private markets, the team leverages data inside the S&P Global data ecosystem and enriches it with new external data to create novel solutions that inform the client workflow. Client use cases span investment management, investment banking, private markets, commercial banking and insurance, and non-financial corporate and professional services. The team operates as part of Company Information Services, which provides data and analytics that enable clients to make important decisions. Team members are well regarded by colleagues throughout the organization and can expect to collaborate with other teams including data science, technology, quantitative analytics, research signals, and others.

The Impact: The New Product Development and Research team brings industry leading products to market, which enhance client workflows in investment management, investment banking, private markets, commercial banking and insurance, and non-financial corporate and professional services. Ideation is inspired by client conversations, industry conferences, the internal research team, external research publications, new technologies, third-party fintech partners, and more. The Quantitative Data Intern will coordinate with the NPDR team on specific data projects.

Responsibilities:
Ingest, clean, and analyze data sets from third parties to assess benefits to CIS / DVA business.
Present prototype results to the broader team, with ability to document technical concepts effectively to a diverse audience.
Conduct hands-on, actionable, innovative data testing and use results to help senior leadership make vital business decisions.
Collaborate with existing members of the NPDR team to leverage expertise around techniques to build and validate new product use cases.

What We’re Looking For:
Pursuing Bachelors or Masters in one of the following subjects: Mathematics/Statistics, Computer/Data Science, Finance or Economics
Strong technical and programming skills in SQL and Python
Expertise in statistics, machine learning or data science experience preferred
Passion for private and/or public markets and data wrangling
Excellent presentation skills, Organized, detail oriented, Intellectual curiosity and inquisitiveness
