This is an environment that calls for high standards of social care and service delivery to provide a secure and stable environment for prisoners to develop their life skills and address the behaviours that have led
them into custody.



About the role
We are now looking for a Substance Misuse Worker to join our Resettlement Team.



Reporting to the Drug Strategy Manager, the Substance Misuse Worker will provide a full professional service to prisoners on drug use and treatment services in support of rehabilitation processes.



Some of the key responsibilities to this role are:

  • Provide information, advice and support to sentenced drug users in drug use and treatment services to provide them with appropriate opportunities for rehabilitation.
  • Provide an assessment and referral service to sentenced drug users to link them directly with community based treatment and rehabilitation or drug services within other prisons.
  • Liaise with agencies within the criminal justice field and drug treatment and rehabilitation services to support the development of treatment plans.
  • Prepare reports as required to support prisoner information for courts, parole and sentence planning boards.
  • Conduct one to one work with selected prisoners to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in the promotion of creating a positive Health & Safety culture across the site leading by example, this includes reporting accidents and near misses in a timely manner & follow the applicable safe systems of work for the role.
