Job description

We are recruiting 4 Student Wellbeing Officer posts, 2 full-time and 2 part-time (0.5fte), to provide a comprehensive advice and support service to students across the University to ensure our students receive a holistic approach to their support. The Student Wellbeing Officers work to develop an inclusive model of wellbeing across academic departments that encompasses student support, safeguarding, welfare and wellbeing. The successful candidates will join a team of Student Wellbeing Officers who are embedded in academic departments.

Skills, Experience & Qualification needed

  • A general education to include three passes at A level, or an equivalent educational qualification, or relevant experience
  • Qualification in, or a willingness to train, in Mental Health First Aid and ASIST
  • A thorough understanding of the principles of service provision within a large, complex organisation , preferably in a Higher Education environment.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, with the ability to provide detailed advice and guidance on welfare and wellbeing procedures to internal and external contacts
  • Experience of working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Significant experience of working in a student facing environment and a demonstrable understanding of welfare and wellbeing issues in higher education environment.
  • Experience in dealing with distressed and disturbed students, and their relatives, friends and supporters
  • Sensitivity and empathy with students, colleagues and staff
