About us
Student and Registry Services is one of the larger Professional Services divisions at UCL, providing essential services to UCL’s 50,000 students, 160,000 applicants and for supporting academic departments and administrative staff in delivering a high-quality student experience. The Student Welcome and Induction team are responsible for ensuring that students joining UCL receive a positive and consistent experience that provides strong foundations for them to undertake their studies and make the most of their time at UCL.
About the role
UCL welcomes around 26,000 new students each academic year and runs a busy schedule of on campus welcome and induction activities in September. We are looking for a Student Welcome and Induction Officer to contribute to the planning and delivery of events and communications for this year's welcome period at both the Bloomsbury campus and East campus. Working as part of the Student Welcome and Induction team, you will take the lead on the coordination of allocated programmes, events or communication campaigns as directed by your manager. This will include developing digital content, liaising with external providers and internal administrative departments, and coordinating with the Students’ Union and academic departments to ensure a consistent approach to Welcome and Induction activities and information. The role will also support the recruitment and management of student workers, including Welcome Ambassadors and Transition Mentors. Special working conditions: For staff working in Student Welcome and Induction team, leave cannot normally be taken between the last week in August and first week in October. Staff will also be required to work on campus during the main welcome weeks (18 September to 30 September). Staff may also be required to work on the occasional weekend during this period. This is an internal secondment role, available to current UCL staff only. The role is available until 6 October 2023. About you
Candidates will have experience of co-ordinating projects, programmes or events and should have the ability to produce written communications to high standards of accuracy and clarity. You will need to have excellent administration and organisational skills and the ability to work as part of a team. You must have excellent IT skills, including competency across the MS Office suite of applications and able to learn new software or web applications quickly. Good interpersonal skills, combined with a passion for delivering excellent customer service are also key requirements of the role.
