An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Student Support Officer to join our Professional Services Team. Based in the School of Clinical Dentistry, you will provide continuity, expertise and advice to students, supporting the work of the Student Support Lead (SSL) and Director of Student Affairs (DoSA).
You will be the primary and initial contact for students in need of wellbeing and welfare support, with a remit to provide a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances our students’ experience. This includes the provision of pastoral, disability liaison and wellbeing support to students and managed interventions for students in difficulty.
You will also support the DoSA in preparing responses for Academic Appeals, Complaints and Case Reviews using a developed knowledge of University procedures and General Dental Council (GDC) guidelines.
You will be educated to A level standard (or have equivalent experience) along with significant experience of working in a Higher Education or similar environment, whilst knowledge of the National Health Service would be advantageous. You will also be expected to have excellent listening skills with an empathetic approach to dealing with sensitive situations.
Due to the nature of this role, you will be expected to be based in the School.
