An exciting opportunity has arisen to facilitate and promote the welfare and wellbeing of students in the Health Sciences School. This post is part-time for a fixed term for 12 months with the potential to continue depending on funding. You will offer initial guidance, professional advice and guidance on students’ wellbeing, working to promote resilience whilst also acting as an accessible first point of contact for students needing support on matters affecting their mental health and wellbeing.
You will work closely with academic colleagues to provide students with comprehensive and professional support related to academic welfare issues including Learning Support Plans and student engagement issues. You will also work closely with the Student Welfare and Wellbeing Service and the Faculty Wellbeing Advisor.
The postholder will be educated to degree level (or have equivalent experience) and have significant previous administrative experience relating to students, preferably from within a Higher Education environment. Understanding of student welfare issues and student support processes is essential. You will have effective communication skills to build relationships, be self-motivated and have a flexible approach to work as well as an ability to prioritise workloads to meet deadlines.
You will have the ability to relate to a wide variety of people whilst being able to set and maintain professional boundaries. Furthermore, you will have the aptitude to respect confidentiality, use tact, diplomacy and discretion in dealing with students and student matters.
