Job description
Sitting within our Global Recruitment and Admissions function, the Global Recruitment (UK and Outreach) team is responsible for the recruitment of UK undergraduates and postgraduates and for widening participation in higher education.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing and evaluating outreach work to raise the school-level attainment of students from a widening participation background. This will involve developing a suite of events, activities and resources that will be delivered by the University of Reading and embedded into existing intensive outreach programmes, as well as working closely with external strategic partners. Through this work, you will also promote the value of higher education, and contribute to the wider objective of encouraging quality applications to the University of Reading and increasing applications from those in under-represented groups.
The role involves working at pace in a fast-moving environment; a strong understanding of the raising attainment agenda in university outreach, as well as knowledge of the school sector and curricula; managing projects and resources; personally representing and promoting the university to young people, and their parents and teachers; and building and maintaining strong networks of internal and external stakeholders.
You will have:
- Understanding of school curricula and the challenges to school-level attainment for disadvantaged students
- Strong understanding of the widening participation agenda in an HE setting, particularly around the drive to raise school-level attainment
- Experience of working intensively with young people in an educational setting
- Experience of developing educational resources / materials
- Ability to work collaboratively within a partnership model to achieve objectives
