As a student mentor in our tight-knit & friendly Fitness & Life Science department, you’ll be a key part of ensuring an amazing learner experience in a highly successful provision.

Day-to-day you will be responsible for:

  • Helping young people in complex situations overcome barriers to their learning

  • Liaising closely with the curriculum team to identify early-stage ‘high-risk’ learners who may disengage from education

  • Providing wraparound support through 1-1’s and other pastoral methods

  • Working closely with the Head of Student Experience, parents and external agencies to tackle issues

  • Being the ‘face of staff’ to the broader community of learners, welcoming and engaging with students to promote the college’s values & behaviours

  • Playing a pivotal role in the safeguarding of young people and championing our commitment to putting students first

  • Promoting our values of fairness, respect & equality

After your first year with us, success would look like:

  • Built relationships & trust with at-risk students to help them engage (or re-engage) with their learning

  • Increased attendance figures of high-risk learners

  • Have effectively worked with the HoSE as well as external organisations

  • Enthusiastically engaged with the college's dedicated CPD programmes to develop your learner-facing skills

  • Built Strong working relationships and supported colleagues where possible
