We are pleased to be able to offer 3 exciting opportunities to undertake the Specialist Community Public Health Nurse Training in Health Visiting.
Upon successful completion and qualification candidates will be required to apply for Grade 6 Health Visitor vacancies with Suffolk County Council.
As a registered Nurse or Midwife, ideally with a degree or credits at level 6 or 7, you can apply to undertake the Health Visiting (Specialist Community Public Health Nurse) training at the postgraduate level via Anglia Ruskin University at either their Chelmsford or Cambridge Campus.
This is a demanding but fascinating and rewarding 1-year full-time programme that requires academic and practice assessments to be undertaken.
You will need to be self-motivated, solution-focused and a strong team player who is keen to work in collaboration with other professionals to embrace the Public Health agenda and to deliver high-quality services for children and their families.
Recruitment for the course is in partnership with Anglia Ruskin University and candidates will be required to be interviewed by a panel and to complete a presentation on a public health issue of their choice.
Your role and responsibilities
You will undertake specialist practitioner training in order to develop the knowledge and skills required to function safely and effectively as a Health Visitor through the support, education and guidance of the education establishment and your clinical Practice Supervisor and Assessor.
You will be required to attend all education sessions at the University, complete all necessary assignments and reports and hours in clinical practice. Some theoretical teaching will be delivered online and at other times this will be on campus.
You will need:
- current NMC Registration
- an interest and understanding in key Public Health issues for children, their families, and local communities.
- experience working with children or young people, along with a passion for supporting the best outcomes for children and their families.

The team
Suffolk’s Health (0-19) and Family Hub services for parents/carers, children, and young people, focus on prevention and early intervention to support children, young people, and their families to achieve their best outcomes. Health Visitors lead the Healthy Child Programme (DoH, 2009) for children 0-5 years of age which provides a universal and targeted service tailored to the individual needs of the families in our care.

We will provide you with a Practice Supervisor and Practice Assessor throughout the course to facilitate and support your learning.
