The University and Student Funding area
The University of Cambridge is one of the foremost employers in the region, currently employing over 12,500 people from all over the world. The Student Funding and Fee Policy Team sits within the Cambridge Admissions and Access Office in Education Services, supporting the academic purposes of the University and provides a range of funding to students through the Cambridge Bursary Scheme, Postgraduate scholarships, and student loans. It also plays a co-ordinating role for funding administered elsewhere in the Collegiate University.
About the Role
This is an exciting role within growing team and will involve managing the accounts, financial transactions, and reporting requirements associated with student funding programmes.
Your main area of focus will be to manage the Mastercard Foundation Scholarship Programme finances.
- Manage maintenance payments, fee payments, the payment of allowances and discretionary awards.
- Manage the administration of pre-paid credit cards Advise the Programme Manager on all financial matters.
- Respond to queries from scholars, handling complaints when necessary.
- Ensure adequate records are maintained for reporting and audit purposes.
- Prepare bi-yearly reports to the sponsor.
- Raise Purchase Orders, facilitate payment of invoices and answer any queries.
What you will need
- Degree level education, Financial/Accounting AAT Level 4 Diploma in Professional Accounting qualification or equivalent or in training.
- The ability to prioritise and self-manage workload, to meet targets and deadlines, and to deal with pressure.
- High standard of IT literacy including excellent Microsoft Office skills.

The University is moving towards hybrid working with staff able to benefit from both working in the office and at home. The Student Funding Team is based within the Student Services Centre on the New Museums Site in Central Cambridge. Staff are expected to be office-based for 40% of the time. This may increase for future years.
