We are looking for a dynamic competent and relevantly experienced officer to work within the Structures Project Delivery Team to assist in delivering the requirements and disciplines on a variety of structural assets working within the Bridges and structures team to help keep our spectacular waterfront city on the move, from both a Highways and maritime perspective.
The Highways Maintenance Group within the Transport Service is at the very forefront of the efforts being made by the City Council and other stakeholders to improve maintain and develop the transport service in our City, for the benefit of all its citizens, businesses and visitors. Key to this is the effective maintenance and improvements/refurbishment to all the structures highway and authority owned structural estates within the public realm.
The Highways Group delivers its own work programmes, supports other City Council initiatives and major projects, and provides expert technical advice and front-line support to both internal and external agencies and individuals. There is considerable passion, technical experience and expertise within the Highways Group to shape the future wellbeing, success and prosperity of our City.
Highway Maintenance Service consists of 5 Teams covering the City: - Area Highways Team, Strategic Highways Team, Bridges and Structures Team, Highway Electrical Assets Team and Assets and Contracts team. Each Team is managed by a Team Manager.
You should have appropriate qualifications or relevant previous Project Delivery experience work, along with some degree of asset management experience, to help support and work within the Bridges and structures Team.
You will have relevant experience of Project Delivery, with some small degree of engineering design calculations and technical compliance experience, to assist in delivering continuous performance improvement and the focused delivery of departmental and corporate priorities. Appropriate full training will be provided to help to fulfil this role.
You will be part of a wider Delivery Team and will part of the Team and play a key role in the delivery of the annual city-wide structures and major works programmes and be focused on the delivery of departmental and corporate priorities. The role will support development of structural technology advancements maintaining and improving the structure infrastructure within BCC estates.
The role will involve working closely with the Highways group, other Transport services, Major Project teams and to support the delivery of our ambitious agendas for growth and economic development. The role will help to ensure the authority meets its statutory duty to maintain structures in accordance with the legal requirements therefore a safe and serviceable structures asset across the authority.
The role would suit a person who has a previous Civils or construction and Project delivery background with preferably some relevant experience of Highway structures assets and who thrives on responsibility, continuous performance improvement and customer focus.
These are exciting times for the City and you will play a pivotal role (as part of the Delivery Team), in delivering, maintaining and improving the highways infrastructure needed to support our ambitious agendas for growth and economic development.
