International Production is a division of Sony Pictures Television and creates, develops and produces programming outside of the US, for both local and global audiences. It is home to a robust portfolio of wholly-owned and joint-venture production companies that operate across multiple territories in the UK, Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific. In the UK, we have 8 production companies in the group, producing well-known scripted shows such as The Crown for Netflix (Left Bank), Alex Rider for Amazon (Eleventh Hour), Dr Who for BBC (Bad Wolf) and Sex Education for Netflix (Eleven Film). We also have key non-scripted titles in our stable produced by Stellify and Whisper such as quiz shows Who Wants to be a Millionaire (Stellify), Riddiculous (Whisper) and Jeopardy (Whisper) for ITV.
Our group production companies are supported by central teams covering Finance, Legal, Human Resources, Business Affairs, Corporate Development and Operations. The Operations team is looking for a hands-on, self-starter with a keen interest in understanding the business from every angle and a passion to learn about the TV industry.
Role Overview:
We’re looking for an individual with a keen interest in Film and TV to join the Operations team for a 6 month contract. The role will involve collating research and market information to aid business decisions, as well as providing general support to the team.
What you'll do:
We are always looking for ways to grow our division, whether it is through acquiring a stand-out production company, investing in stellar talent or identifying key growth opportunities in the market. As such, a large proportion of our work is centered around understanding the latest industry trends.
- With guidance, undertake market mapping exercises, tracking industry competitors, other groups and companies
- Maintain and update Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) database, adding new M&A deal information from industry trade publications and news announcements
- Provide research support, assisting Operations team in collating targeted intel (e.g. within specific TV genres, creating talent lists, noting buyer strategies etc.)
- Opportunity to support the creation of Excel models to evaluate different deal structures and analyze potential returns (depending on experience)
- Compile weekly International Production TX Report, listing shows that will air each week, the relevant channel/platform and time, and distribute to wider team
- With guidance, compile daily news bites for the team, gathering key info from trade publications
- Provide diary management cover for the Operations team as well as support with travel and expenses
- Potential to join internal meetings and also some meetings with our production companies
- Option to become involved in a UK Employee Business Resource Group and to attend Sony screenings and staff events
What you have:
- Experience in PowerPoint
- Basic Excel skills
- Diary management skills and experience booking and handling travel and expenses
- Task management and project management skills
