Talbot is an international insurer and reinsurer operating within the Lloyd’s market through Syndicates 1183 and 2019. We have been part of AIG since 2018 and our ambition is to be AIG’s Centre of Excellence at Lloyd’s. Headquartered in London, Talbot has offices in New York and Singapore and over 300 people working across these three locations.

Syndicate 1183 underwrites multiple classes of business including Political Violence/Terrorism, Marine, Energy (off-shore and on-shore), Marine and Energy Liability, Hull, Cargo and Specie, Political Risk, Property, Accident and Health, Financial Lines, Cyber, Alternative Risks, Non-Physical Cyber and Treaty Reinsurance.
Syndicate 2019 reinsures premium written by AIG’s Private Client Group, covering Homeowners, Auto, General Specie and other products.
About the role
What you need to know:
To be a key member of INDEX - Talbot’s Strategy, Broker Engagement and Innovation Team:
- To support INDEX in driving the development and execution of Talbot strategy
- To enhance Talbot’s understanding and management of broker engagement
As with the activities of the INDEX team as a whole this role will be split between Strategy, Broker Engagement and Innovation:
Strategy:
- Support the development and execution of Talbot’s company strategy as part of the AIG group
- Work with Talbot’s senior leadership to deploy Talbot’s strategy framework into the business
- Provide the analysis and perspective to ensure Talbot’s strategy enables it to effectively compete and win in the London insurance market
- Provide research and analysis on competitor and market activity that will inform Talbot’s strategic decision making
- Engage with and support specific strategic initiatives to ensure they are successfully executed
Broker Engagement:
- Collate and produce relevant data and analysis on Talbot’s key strategic broker relationships
- Support the development and execution of a broker engagement framework with the aim of driving profitable growth via enhanced broker relationships
- Coordinate the day-to-day alignment of Talbot’s broker engagement activities with AIG’s Distribution teams through the provision of relevant data, metrics and analysis
Innovation:
- Work within the INDEX team to explore new ideas and opportunities that could modernise and transform Talbot by ensuring the corporate strategy takes account of new and innovative developments in the insurance market
General:
- Manage select INDEX relationships with key internal and external business stakeholders
- Provide analysis, documentation and presentation materials to support all of the activities described
- Prepare reports and information for senior business leaders to assist with key strategic decisions
What we’re looking for:
- 3+ years’ experience, specialty insurance preferred but not strictly necessary
- Graduate Degree (preferred course with analytical/numerical content; STEM, Economics or Finance/Business)
- ACII - preferred
- Creative thinking and problem solving
- High levels of initiative, a willingness to initiate and own work without close instruction
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and within a team
- Desire to work in a fast paced environment with an ability to meet deadlines
- Strong Analytical and numerical skills with the ability to learn quickly (including strong Microsoft Excel skills. Further experience of data tools would be positive)
- Well-developed research skills – an ability to seek out, examine and draw conclusions from large amounts of information
- Strong presentation skills (strong PowerPoint ability preferable)
