Job description
The Strategic Planning Director is responsible for serving as strategic lead on multiple small accounts and strategic support on larger, integrated accounts. In addition, the Strategic planning director is responsible for leading smaller new business opportunities, with a high degree of autonomy. On their brands/new business, they are responsible for understanding the disease/market, competition and target audience insights in depth and translating those insights into actionable recommendations for brand strategy. The Strategic Planning Director develops strong partnerships with account and creative team members, earning their confidence and trust as a strategic guide along the process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Brand Planning
Conduct insight mining and literature reviews, take part in market research, provide input into discussion guides, draw conclusions from information obtained
New Business
Conduct physician interviews, craft the story, present at new business pitched
Workshop Facilitation
Facilitate internal workshops and client workshops.
JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Demonstrate understanding of pharmaceutical brand marketing and promotional strategy
- Demonstrate understanding of the strategic process - and required milestones/steps
- Customer insight mining skills; designing, conducting and analyzing research
- Serve as consultant for clients on qual/quant research design, methodology and results
- Strategic leadership on all aspects of existing business on multiple, small accounts
- Strategic support on all aspects of existing business on large, integrated accounts
- Lead brand and creative strategy development (e.g. positioning, targeting, creative brief)
- Strategic leadership on all aspects of new business pitch preparation
- Crafts well written insight/strategy presentations for new/existing business; ability to analyze, crystalize and story-tell
- New business pitch attendance; demonstrates strong oral communication and presentation skills
- Lead the design and facilitation of client workshops (e.g. positioning workshops)
- Showcase strategic value to internal team members and clients
- Strong multi-tasking, time management and organizational skills
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors, preferably in Marketing, Strategic Planning, Psychology, Copywriting or Sociology
- 8 years experience (pharma required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
