Contract Type – TfL, Perm
Overview of project/role
To ensure the availability of all spares, parts and materials are provided to meet the service delivery demands of the business through availability of Rolling Stock / Trams.
This will be achieved, and targets met by working within the Materials Team to accurately receive, store and distribute all stores material to the point of use within the agreed service level expectations.
Key Accountabilities
- Ensure that materials received are recorded as a good receipt in SAP, and routed through the inspection process, if necessary, within the agreed SLA and physically stored in the correct location.
- Carrying out initial inspections and take necessary actions as a result of the inspection such as the rejection of goods, after consulting the Materials Manager.
- Attend to requests for materials, tools and equipment from the maintenance / production staff or from generated picklist or bills of material lists.
- Issue, receive and stow equipment and calibrated tools and ensure all issued equipment and calibrated tools are recorded, reporting any missing and damaged items to the Materials Manager.
- Allocated stores housekeeping area to be kept clean, tidy and hazard free for work to be carried out safely, reporting any safety issues to the Materials Manager.
- Ensure the scheduled cycle counting of material is carried out with the results passed to the Materials Manager for recording and investigation.
- Identify areas for improvement within the Stores / Material Control. Bring these to the attention of the Materials Manager.
- Perform forklift duties by loading and unloading of materials / equipment from vehicles.
- Carry out Banksman duties to facilitate the safe manoeuvring of articulated delivery vehicles in the depot.
- Process the return of defective parts via the SAP repair process: Produce POs and Non-Conformance Reports (NCR).
- Book the collections and deliveries of equipment / parts as required by the Business and TfL policy.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft office
- Working knowledge of using an Enterprise Resource Planning system
- Current forklift license
- Correct manual handling techniques
- Good focus on continuous improvement
- Vehicle banks-person certificate
Knowledge
- Knowledge of the rail / tram / public service vehicle industry or similar
- Knowledge of typical stores processes / warehousing
- Knowledge of COSHH regulations
- Safe ways of working for the Employee and their colleague
Experience
- Has worked previously in a modern, computerised warehouse environment.
