Job description

About Vanti

At Vanti, we’re not satisfied with how buildings work. We’re on a mission to drive positive change in how buildings are designed, built and operated for the benefit of people who interact with them and for the betterment of our planet.

This isn’t some vaporous claim or goal, either. We’re now an accredited B-Corp with a legal commitment to driving systems change.

We don’t put the shackles on creativity. We actively encourage inclusive, outside-the-box thinking to deliver innovative solutions to complex challenges. We’re striving to lead the way in educating the industries we serve on best practice for future generations.

At Vanti, no one day is the same. We don’t work on projects which require templated, one-size fits all cookie-cutter solutions which inhibit positive systems change.

You could be delivering fully integrated smart buildings for blue-chip clients such as Informa, Citi Group or Allianz or conducting critical research on the future of electric flying vehicles and the security and consumption of the energy grid for electric cars.

We realise that to achieve our ambitions we need talented people and a first-class working environment which contributes to everyone’s success. As well as a range of company-wide benefits we provide flexibility for individuals via our agile working policy, so you can reach your potential and deliver your best work around the challenges of everyday life.

We’d love you to join our mission and help us on our journey.

About the role

This individual manages the organisation, storage, safekeeping, and dispatch of goods in the Vanti warehouse and associated areas. They receive goods from suppliers, check the goods for damage and store it appropriately, as well as helping other departments locate items they require. They track the movement of incoming and outgoing goods and returns and are responsible for all paperwork relating to the receiving and dispatching of goods. They are also responsible for ordering consumables to maintain sufficient levels of stock.

  • Creating and maintaining an organised environment in which deliveries are received and equipment, consumables, and tools are stored
  • Keeping on top of inventory and assets
  • Managing incoming and outgoing stock
  • Managing requests from other departments for stock and consumables
  • Carrying out project preparation and fabrication in our workshop and lab

  • All Vanti equipment is asset tagged and added to the asset register
  • The asset register is kept up to date as equipment is purchased or retired
  • Our onsite team have all the tools, equipment, and consumables they need for delivery
  • Returned tools, equipment, and consumables are returned to stock and accounted for
  • RMAs are processed in a timely manner
  • Logistics requests are responded to and actioned in a timely manner
  • Offsite fabrication and production is carried out to a high standard ahead of onsite project delivery

About you

We’re a complex business operating within complex industries, and we recognise that it might not suit everyone. That’s why we look for the right personality and culture fit before we look at skills and experience, and we try not to put too much importance on qualifications (unless they’re absolutely essential for the role, like an electrician for example). We’ve highlighted below what we think would be the ideal skills and experience for this role, but if you think you’ve got relevant transferrable skills and experience feel free to apply and make sure this is highlighted in your application.

The ideal candidate will have all the below technical abilities:

  • Basic IT skills – essential
  • General maintenance skills – essential
  • Able to lift and handle heavy items – essential
  • Capable of working with power tools (soldering, welding, drilling, powder coating) – essential
  • Comfortable driving company vehicles (including the Luton) – essential
  • Background in electrical installation or other engineering disciplines - desirable
  • Working knowledge of inventory management systems – desirable
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel - desirable

We also think you should be/have:

  • Excellent organisation skills – essential
  • Able to work methodically and quickly to meet deadlines – essential
  • Able to work well under pressure during busy periods - essential
  • Able to prioritise and coordinate multiple tasks effectively without instruction – essential
  • Excellent time management skills – essential
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently – essential
  • Good teamwork skills - essential
  • Confident maintaining ownership of the spaces being managed - essential

Qualifications

  • Full UK driving licence – essential
  • Health and Safety training - desirable

Benefits and compensation

Salary

Because we know how important it is to give people an idea of what they’d be earning in this role, the salary range we’ve got in mind is £28,000 - £32,000. If that sounds ok to you (or even if it doesn’t), we’d like to say a bit more about salaries, so please read on…

We have a rough idea in mind of what salaries we pay for certain types of roles based on current team members and market rate (hence the range we’ve advertised for this role), but we prefer to have conversations with candidates and discuss what they’re looking for. We would hate to say, “we will only pay up to £32,000” and for that to put someone off who could add huge value to our growth journey.

We’re transparent and happy to chat about all things finance and money very openly, so feel free to ask us if you’d like to know more!
