JOB DESCRIPTION
STORE MANAGER
Job Title: Store Manager – Halifax (Value Shop - potentially addition of furniture)
Responsible To: Charity Retail & Enterprise Manager
Responsible For: Assistant Manager, store colleagues & volunteers
JOB CONTEXT
Yorkshire Cat Rescue currently has four shops; over the past year we have made some changes to our shops to increase sales floor space and ensure more effective movement of stock.
We work together to ensure that shops are stocked with the correct stock types, this means that the maximum income can be generated for the cats and kittens in our care. We have developed shop types to allow us to better understand where stock should be sent. These are:
Value (currently 2 shops) – offering value prices to the local community, this does not mean lower quality, just lower average selling prices and higher levels of stock on the shop floor. These shops offer a full range of stock from supermarket brands to high street, through to designer items but will have a reduced price in comparison to other stores. These stores will also include discount and pound shops as we expand our portfolio in the future. These are also shops that are at the end of the rotation cycle. These shops are focused on stock numbers and less on display aspects within the shop.
Aspiration (currently 1 shop) – these shops sell the full range of items as in other stores but are earlier in the rotation cycle. These shops will have more mid-range high street names and designer brands. The shop floor layout will have a good amount of display space as well as sales space, more focus on visual merchandising can be seen in these shops. They often have smaller sales floors.
Inspiration (currently 1 shop) – these shops only have high street and designer items, they will also have stock within our ‘Curiosity’ concept which encompasses vintage, quicky and handmade items. There is much more focus on display within these shops.
Destination (currently no shops) – these are shops that will have large sales floors, outside of the town centre and would act as donation centres as well as a large furniture shop and possibly extra spaces such as café, pet shop and information and advice services.
