About the Role
The Staff Shop and Stock Manager is responsible for assisting the HOCS in all aspects of managing the staff shop, ensuring smooth operations, exceptional customer service, and achieving sales targets. This role involves overseeing the sales team, coordinating inventory management, and maintaining a positive shopping experience for employees. The Staff Shop and Stock Manager must possess excellent leadership skills, strong retail acumen, and a customer-centric mindset.
Responsibilities:
Reports to: Head of Culinary Services
- Collaborate with the Shop Manager/HOCS to develop strategies for achieving sales targets and improving overall performance.
- Support the HOCS in recruiting, training, and managing the sales team.
- Aid in creating work schedules and coordinating staff activities to ensure optimal coverage during operational hours.
1. Sales and Customer Service:
- Lead by example by delivering exceptional customer service and maintaining a high standard of salesmanship.
- Motivate and coach the sales team to achieve sales goals and provide excellent customer assistance.
- Resolve customer complaints or concerns promptly and professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction.
2. Inventory Management:
- Assist in managing stock levels, ensuring appropriate merchandise quantities and timely replenishment.
- Coordinate regular stock audits to maintain accurate inventory records and minimize discrepancies.
- Collaborate with the Shop Manager to identify slow-moving items, develop strategies for clearance, and introduce new products based on employee preferences.
- Liaise with teams around the business to organise stock deliveries and collections.
3. Visual Merchandising:
- Assist in creating visually appealing displays and implementing visual merchandising guidelines.
- Ensure products are presented in an organized, attractive, and accessible manner
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and tidiness of the shop floor and stockroom areas.
4. Reporting and Analytics:
- Assist in preparing sales reports, analysing sales trends, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Provide regular feedback to HOCS regarding sales performance, customer feedback, and staff performance.
5. Team Development:
- Support the HOCS in training and developing the sales team, including product knowledge, sales techniques, and customer service skills.
- Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.
- Foster a positive work environment that promotes teamwork, professionalism, and continuous learning.
Requirements:
- Experience working and running a shop
- Experience with stock management working with a large amount of different products
- Experience in visual merchandising
- Experience managing a small team
