Hillside Animal Sanctuary (Part Time) Large Animal Handlers, based at Frettenham.
We are looking to recruit new part time staff to join our existing team. We are looking for candidates ideally situated around the Frettenham area. You will need to have your own transport as there is no public transport and you may be required to travel to our other sites. A current, full, clean UK driving licence is required to be able to drive manual vehicles. Must be confident handling all types of large animals such as cattle, horses etc.
WORKING HOURS
07.30 hrs to 16.00hrs (Winter Season)
07.30 hrs to 17.00hrs (Summer season)
Weekend work available
DUTIES
Assisting in providing the high standard of care of horses, cattle, sheep and pigs at the sanctuary.
Duties to include (but not limited to):
- Preparation of feeds & daily feed run operations
- Cleaning out of animal paddocks, enclosures and water tanks
- General cleaning and maintenance of equipment
- Closely monitoring animal health and well-being
- Maintaining safe, clean, warm and dry environments for the animals
- Tractor/trailer driving
- Assisting farriers and veterinary staff
- Moving, leading and grooming equines
Qualities required
- A genuine interest in animal welfare
- Animal husbandry qualification or experience of working with large animals
- Excellent time-keeping and attendance to work
- Practical hands-on and hard-working approach to work
- Ability to work alone and within a team
- Good communication skills
Essential
- Able to work outside in all weathers
- Valid manual driving licence
