Job Title: Steward Supervisor

Responsible to: Stand Manager
Role Summary:
As a supervisor, you will be managing your areas related issues, incidents, problems, or queries in the first instance. You will be communicating with the Safety Officer and/or Control
Room to highlight and manage any potential issues.
Demonstrate leadership qualities, interpersonal and good communication skills. You will be required to attend pre-event briefings and brief your team.
To ensure, as far as reasonably practicable, the safety of all customers, staff and visitors attending any event. To help create and maintain a safe environment, your priority is safety and to be part of a team of stewards and stadium staff.
You will need to be able to work well under pressure as you will be roaming, and may be called to deal with conflict, disorder, and breaches of the ground regulations.
You are QPR Football Club’s front line in meeting and greeting people and you will help, advise, and guide visitors to the stadium.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Give a detailed briefing and clear instruction to the stand stewarding team.
- Attend pre-event briefing and all training, and ensure all information is understood.
- Do not leave the stadium complex after signing in until the end of your duties.
- To be always responsible for the safety and comfort of spectators within the site.
- Assist in the prevention of overcrowding by ensuring the crowd limits in various parts of the ground are complied with.
- Monitor the crowd throughout the ground for signs of distress or overcrowding and take action in accordance with standing instructions.
- Ensure that gangways and exit / evacuation routes are kept clear.
- In response to an incident, and without having to wait for instruction from the Safety
Officer, advise the control point of any action you are about to take and, if available, request CCTV coverage of the area.
- Assist in the diversion of spectators to other parts of the ground including the closing of turnstiles when the capacity for any area is about to be reached.
- Identify and investigate any incident or occurrence among spectators, reporting their findings to a Chief Steward or Safety Officer.
- Know the location of and be able to effectively operate the fire-fighting equipment at the ground.
- Know the location of the first aid room and any first aid equipment kept elsewhere in the Stadium.
- Be fully conversant with any methods or signals used to alert staff that an emergency has arisen.
- Be capable of recognising potential fire hazards and suspect packages, reporting such findings immediately to a Fire Marshal, the Chief Steward or the Safety Officer.
- Remain at allocated post as instructed unless authorised or ordered to do otherwise by the Safety Officer or a Police Officer.
- Report to the Chief Steward or Safety Officer any damage or defect which is likely to pose a threat to spectator safety e.g. a damaged seat or barrier.
- Assist as required in the evacuation of the ground.
- After the event, debrief the stewards for which you are responsible for.

Experience
- Previous experience of managing spectators at sporting events.
- Security: 2 years (Required)
Licence/Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 Supervisor certificate
- ACT training
- First Aid qualification
