About the Role:
Pro-Roll is looking to take on Steel Workers who have experience in any of the following processes or skills:
- Band Sawing
- Bar Straightening (Including Reeling, Bump and Stretch Straightening)
- Heat Treatment
- Final Inspection (including Weighing, Material Identification & Labelling)
- Bar Marking, Packing & Dispatch
In particular, we are looking for candidates who are multi-skilled across a range of processes, or those who are at least willing to undertake training and personal development to become so. Above all else, you must work well in a team and have a go-getting attitude.
Tasks:
Final Inspection: Weighing materials, correctly identifying & labelling, measuring activities (micrometres/verniers/tapes), checking against orders, completing paperwork, storing materials.
Sawing: Loading of material, precise measurement, interpreting orders, operating automatic Kasto & Danobat band saws, finishing of edges, awareness and management of metalworking fluids/coolants.
Bar Straightening: Assist with the 3 types of bar straightening we have (Bump, Stretch & Reeler), learn how to set up the machines, the use of different plates and weights to achieve desired results.
Heat Treatment: Assist with setting up charge loads, setting up and monitoring furnace, pyrometry controls to AMS 2750 / NADCAP, transfer to quenching baths, checking charts and paperwork.
Bar Marking & Packing: Correctly identify material, set-up marking machines and label bars to customer requirements, assemble boxes and pallets for bespoke orders, pack material for delivery/international shipment, load transport.
Essential Skill Requirements:
- Experience in working in a steelworks/metal manufacturing.
- Skilled in using Verniers and/or micrometres.
- Keen, motivated and reliable.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Fully compliant to Health & Safety requirements.
- FLT License (refresher training can be provided).
- Overhead Crane certified (refresher training can be provided)
