Grade B £37,694 - £45,092 (National Framework) or £42,863 - £50,261 (London Framework – if you are London office based or homebased and live within the boundary of the M25) – There is also an additional homeworking allowance of £529 per annum for those working from home

Accountabilities:
. Design, engineer and enhance automated statistical and machine learning algorithms to derive insight from data.
. Collaborate with qualitative specialists to deliver automated qualitative analysis, develop NLP solutions.
. Work using agile delivery approaches to deliver MVP outputs, testing and iterating solutions to optimise over time.
. Design and undertake appropriate quality control and assurance for delivery of output, ensuring statistical rigour.
. Work with other stakeholders and colleagues to develop and implement outputs for effective business use, including specifying data and methodology requirements.
. Provide coaching and training to colleagues in statistical methods and data science. Support requirements for training, development of programmes and materials.
. Provide direction and guidance to peers and junior colleagues, including management and development of teams, where required.
. Promote a strong data culture across CQC in line with the organisational data strategy.
. Role modelling inclusive behaviours in line with our values in everyday interactions.
Skills and Experience:
. Excellent coding skills across a range of tools, preferably in R, Python and SQL.
. Experience of analysing large and complex data sets.
. Experience of applying statistical methodology and/or machine learning techniques.
. Familiarity with natural language processing concepts and experience in their practical use.
. Experience of planning, managing and delivering data science projects.
. Strong decision-making skills and capability to make sound judgement with limited supervision.
. Ability to identify problems and lead the delivery of solutions and preventative measures, escalating where appropriate.
. Proven ability to understand stakeholder needs, manage stakeholder expectations and influence at all levels on the use of data and insight.
. Proven ability to tailor the communication of insight in the most appropriate and compelling way for the audience, including through storytelling and visualisation.
Desirable:
. Knowledge and understanding of the health and care sectors.
. Experience of using record-level health and care datasets.
. Experience working with data engineer and architecture teams to implement and automate solutions.
