Salary: Circa £27,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Contract: Permanent
Location: Hybrid - flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell)

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work on HESA’s new ‘College HE’ project, which is creating a single consistent, comparable, detailed source of information about all students enrolled on higher education (HE) courses in further education (FE) colleges, in the UK.

You will take responsibility for extracting, manipulating and quality-assuring appropriate and often complex data from the HESA databases using advanced database query languages or data manipulation tools so experience using R, Python, Stata or other similar data manipulation software will be key.

Other responsibilities will include:
  • Analysis of Higher Education (HE) data in the creation and development of official statistics and Open Data products
  • Support the production of official statistics outputs and contributes ideas for the development of statistical measures
  • Undertake research using HE data, including time series and trend analysis, using appropriate analytical techniques and software
  • Provide support and advice to users of statutory/official statistics and research outputs

Key Skills and Experience:
  • Experience of analysing quantitative data for presentation either orally or in writing
  • Experience of applying basic statistical techniques to analyse data
  • Ability to listen and assimilate information and convey complex information clearly both orally and in writing to varied audiences
  • Experience with Oracle and/or SQL
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to work effectively and efficiently when dealing with high volumes and tight deadlines
