We our looking for enthusiastic and motivated staff nurses to join our well established and friendly team on the Day Surgery Unit. It is a very busy , fast paced unit and we care for patients having a variety of surgical conditions, including general surgery, urology, plastics , gynaecology , orthopaedics and oral surgery – meaning no two days are the same. You will be actively involved in our patient’s pathway, from admitting and preparing the patient for surgery to leading their recovery and discharge.

Our proactive unit is driven to ensure we develop our nurses to the highest standard and you will receive in house training to deliver nurse led discharges and TTA’s. You will, therefore, be an enthusiastic individual who enjoys new challenges and has a keen interest in surgical nursing. You will have excellent communication and organisation skills along with a strong team work ethic and keeps the patient at the heart of everything you do.

- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care without direct supervision.
- To work within a team and assist in monitoring the performance and work of the Nursing Team, providing education and support as appropriate.

- To participate and assist in setting standards of patient care based on sound evidence based findings, implementing these into practice.
- Ensure that the nursing practices of the area comply with the Trust’s Nursing policies and
- To comply at all times with the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Communicate effectively and liaise with all health care staff as appropriate.
- To encourage and maintain good relationship with Medical Staff and other members of thePrimary care & Social Services teams in order to provide the best care.
- To support the implementation and maintenance of Team Nursing within the clinical area, taking responsibility for a small case-load of patients. Within this system of case management, co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patients along their critical pathway, reporting any variance from the pathway. Take named responsibility for co-ordinating individual patient’s discharge.
