Job description
We have vacancies on our inpatients wards for Staff Nurses (Band 5) at the Forensic Service both at John Howard Centre and Wolfson House. This role will cover all areas of our service including HDU, learning disability, specialist autism, acute mental health, women services and rehabilitation services.
As a Staff Nurse, your role will be to provide holistic nursing care to patients from admission to discharge and to work with the ward management team to innovate and inspire change and excellence across all aspects of the care environment. You will be a role model to unregistered nursing staff and able to demonstrate care and compassion in all that you do.
You might be a newly qualified nurse or a more experienced practitioner. You will be a motivated clinician who is able to communicate and demonstrate therapeutic interventions with adults experiencing acute mental health problems, with knowledge of the physical health issues related to this patient group, reflected in good documentation and the ability to evidence care.
You will develop effective lines of communication with members of the wider multidisciplinary team and other agencies, working with ward management and the consultant teams to effectively manage bed occupancy and discharge planning, and maintain task-focus, effective team work in the context of, at times, a highly unpredictable working day.
The first paragraph of your supporting statement should include three reasons why you have applied for this position.
To co-ordinate and provide care and treatment to an identified group of patients without direct supervision.
To manage and organise work as required.
Take responsibility for the development and delivery of evidence based practice, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user individual needs, Trust objectives and professional guidance.
Contribute to the development of high quality evidence based in-patient services in a changing health care environment.
Contribute towards ensuring that the ward functions as an integral part of the Directorate’s services.
Effective communication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to the Trust.
To practice within professional guidelines and promote professional practice in clinical area.
To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.
Our mission is to make a positive difference to people's lives by improving the quality of life for all we serve. Our values are: We Care, We Respect, We are Inclusive – so we are looking for people who live and breathe these qualities when supporting service users and carers, and in their relationships with colleagues in the Trust and our partner organisations.
