An opportunity has arisen for a Graphic Designer to join our team within the Medical Illustration Service at NHS Lanarkshire.
You will join a team of 16 staff who are committed to providing a comprehensive Medical Photography, Ophthalmic imaging and Graphic Design Service, pan Lanarkshire. You will be based at University Hospital Wishaw and will undertake graphic design and in-house print and finishing duties. You will assist in the provision and management of high-quality clinical, teaching and promotional materials for all areas of NHS Lanarkshire and be required to work at more than one hospital site, based on the service needs.
JOB PURPOSE
- To support the provision of a professional cost effective, efficient multimedia, graphic & design service to NHSL
- Undertake a wide range of creative multi-skilled illustrative duties in medical graphics, scientific poster production and patient information literature
- The post holder will undertake duties across Lanarkshire, where demand dictates, on a sessional basis
Applicants should possess an HND in Graphic Design or higher. Consideration may also be given to applicants who have an equivalent level graphic design qualification paired with proven relevant experience working within a commercial setting. All applicants must be expert in using Adobe Indesign and have a good working knowledge of the entire Adobe Creative Suite for traditional print, interactive and fully accessible media. It would be beneficial for candidates to also be familiar with job management software and to have experience in specifying and managing work sent out for commercial printing. The successful candidate will be required to work 37.5hrs, Monday to Friday.
This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED TO DO THE JOB
- HND in Graphic Design or graphic-related subject
- Thorough knowledge of digital image processing and current design trends
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Experience in design for print
- Advanced user of Adobe Creative Suite software
- Knowledge of web development software and technology
- Knowledge of PC and Apple Macintosh systems and associated software
