Job Title: Sports & Engagement Coach
Reports To: Alternative Education Manager
Location: Bridgend, Caerphilly, Vale of Glamorgan. Post will require travel across 3 sites.
Salary: £300 per week
Hours: Monday - Friday, 20 hours per week (Term time only)
Job Purpose
The Sports & Engagement Coach is passionate about young people and education and will use this in post to increase participation and engagement among the young people. The primary aim of this post is to deliver support, mentoring and coaching sessions to registered students who are part of our Alternative Education Courses. The Engagement Coach will require delivery of activities including team-building games, building social interaction and playing a pivotal role in mentoring, supporting the learner's needs and aiding retention of learners on the course.
About LMP Action
LMP Education are a youth training provider, a specialist education division of the Let Me Play organization, which engages with young people through providing alternative learning options, mentoring and our own education centres.
Key Responsibilities
- To ensure that all engagement sessions are planned and delivered to a high standard.
- To assist where necessary support those who need extra help by offering 1 to 1 guidance.
- To support the participation, retention and progression of learners in their sessions.
- Liaise with other staff members effectively.
- Supervise the young people at all times.
- To attend and engage in all relevant staff meetings, and maintain effective communication with staff, learners and other relevant organisations.
- To undertake training and CPD as necessary and relevant to the post.
- To be familiar with the LMP Code of Conduct and all operational, Health & Safety, Child Protection and Data Protection policies.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Sports and Education Coach must have a passion for working with young people from different educational backgrounds, and be committed to raising standards, be reliable, enthusiastic and motivated. They must possess excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, ICT and management skills and be able to build and sustain effective working relationships with staff.
Education and Experience
- DBS (essential)
- 3 or more years of experience working with a variety of aged groups including 16 plus.
- Experience of delivering training and working in diverse community and/or sports settings.
- Experience of working with young people who are hard to engage with.
Work Environment
Your work environment for the nature of this role will be at a LMP Action venue, term time only. You will be supporting the LMP tutor & another engagement coach.

Some work is of a confidential nature and information gained must not be communicated to other persons except in the recognised course of duty.
