Job description

Band 7, Spiritual and Pastoral Care Team Leader (High Secure Services), based at Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, Berkshire

An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced and suitably qualified person to join us in the Spiritual and Pastoral Care Team at West London NHS Trust. We are looking for a Spiritual and Pastoral Care Team Leader, with both forensic mental healthcare and management experience, to join a multi-faith and ecumenical team. Based at Broadmoor Hospital, Crowthorne, Berkshire, the post holder will provide specialist spiritual, religious and pastoral care in a High Secure environment, working with patients, carers and staff. You will also contribute to the strategic and managerial aspects of the Trust’s Spiritual and Pastoral Care Service.

At West London NHS Trust, we are committed to ‘Promoting hope and wellbeingtogether’. Join us!

Educated to degree level, you will have a theological training leading to accreditation as a leader within a recognised faith community and you will have significant experience of spiritual and pastoral care. Previous practice as a mental healthcare chaplain is a requirement for this post and a willingness to work respectfully with people of all faiths and none is essential. You should also be a ‘champion’ of equality, diversity and inclusion issues, working easily with people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds including LGBTQIA+ persons. You will have a proven track record in being able to lead and manage a team.

West London NHS Trust is one of the most diverse providers of mental health, community and social care in the UK.

Our 3,982 staff care for people in hospital and in the community, helping them to recover and go on to lead full and productive lives. We aim to be the best organisation of our kind in the country.

We provide care and treatment for more than 800,000 people living in the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith & Fulham and Hounslow, delivering services in the community (at home, in GP surgeries and care homes), hospital, specialist clinics and forensic (secure) units.

We’re rated good overall by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Together, we’re committed to promoting hope and wellbeing, working with patients, service users, carers, families and partners across the communities we serve.

We are keen to ensure that our workforce reflects the community it serves, particularly in terms of ethnicity, gender, disability, LGBTQ+ and experience of mental illness.

Covid-19 vaccination is a condition of employment for this role, unless an exemption applies. The successful applicant may have contact with vulnerable service users and we will therefore seek proof of being fully vaccinated during the recruitment process.
