Are you looking for a part-time post as a Band 7 Speech and Language Therapist within a highly supportive team? Do you want to further develop your experience with a different care group or in a community context? We are looking for an experienced Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our team in Liverpool for 4 days per week.

Our team works with adults who have communication and/or swallowing difficulties related to a broad range of acquired and congenital long-term conditions. We deliver care close to home to ensure that we meet the holistic and specific needs of the person. We pride ourselves on the quality of care we deliver through patient-centred goal-setting and collaborative working within the MDT. We work closely with our Speech and Language Therapy colleagues in the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities teams and hold joint CPD and case discussion sessions for shared-learning. We have robust clinical supervision and line management processes to further encourage the development of colleagues' specialist skills and interests.

The service has Speech and Language Therapy Expert Practitioners and Mersey Care has excellent AHP leadership.

Shortlisting is planned for 28th July 2023

Interviews are planned for 10th August 2023

The post-holder would be supporting people with swallowing and communication difficulties that can be complex to manage and this may relate to social circumstances or vulnerabilities as well as physical presentation.

You would be providing clinical supervision and line management to junior colleagues within the team and would be supported by peers and your own line manager in this regard.

You would share the role of 'Duty Therapist' with your Band 7 colleagues offering clinical or operational support as required.

You would have the opportunity to deputise for the Expert Practitioners / Operational Manager as appropriate in meetings and in project work.

You would support junior therapists to develop their clinical skills, taking the lead in case discussions and in promoting the use of the latest evidence-based practice.

You may be involved in staff performance monitoring and may have difficult or sensitive conversations with those who use the service or with colleagues.

This is a varied and interesting role in which leadership skills, compassionate communication skills, clinical prioritisation and time management skills are essential.
