Job description
Would you like a change of scene or to try something different for a while, working as part of a friendly and supportive team? We're recruiting for maternity cover for a key role in our inpatient dysphagia service at Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby.
We're looking for an autonomous dysphagia practitioner who shares the team's passion for delivering high quality interventions and embraces our Trust values of kindness, courage and respect. You will be well-supported by our Acute Medicine Lead SLT in conjunction with the North East Lincolnshire SLT Team Lead and Clinical Expert SLTs. The team is supported by our Dysphagia Assistant who works within the inpatient service. We hold weekly Videofluoroscopy clinics and are developing our inpatient FEES service.
We offer regular supervision, joint working, training and CPD opportunities to further develop your clinical skills. The Trust offers a range of Quality Improvement training opportunities with built-in support to work on your chosen service improvement project. Alongside colleagues in the team, you will provide clinical leadership to more junior SLT's and support student placements.
The wider SLT service encompasses colleagues with similar roles in Scunthorpe, providing regular opportunities for joint working. Our inpatient dysphagia service plans to expand to include rostered Saturday and bank holiday working and this post would contribute to this quality improvement initiative.
The postholder is to both provide and support a high standard of care within Speech and Language Therapy, undertaking all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner.
To work as part of a multi-disciplinary team. To be responsible for providing a specialist service comprising assessment, management and treatment for adults with disorders of communication and swallowing (dysphagia) dependent on specific role.
To manage a defined caseload of patients using advanced evidence based/patient centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions, including discharge planning and facilitation.
We’re a large organisation with three hospitals located in Scunthorpe, Grimsby and Goole. We also provide community services in North Lincolnshire. Our 6,500 members of staff care for and support a population of more than 400,000 people.
We encourage all our staff to innovate and adopt ‘best practice’ so we can deliver excellent care to our patients. We ask staff to live our values; kindness, courage and respect.
We are committed to recruiting the best people to work with us. You could be one of them.
