We have been assigned by an NHS Trust in the West Midlands to recruit to their Specialty Doctor in Emergency Medicine vacancy on a permanent basis. Would this be of interest to you or, if would know of someone within your network who you can recommend.

Our client is one of the largest and most modern in the country. We serve around three million people and we're highly regarded for our facilities, teaching and research. The Trust has around 1,450 inpatient beds across two sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford. Our 11,000 strong workforce provide emergency treatment, planned operations and medical care. They are the specialist centre for major trauma for the Midlands and North Wales. Happy staff make for happy patients, and with the help of both we have put together a wide range of development and support packages aimed at ensuring that everyone.
This Trusts department is renowned for its training and support. The Consultant body has current FRCEM examiners as well as experience at the CESR application process and an RCEM CESR evaluator. There will be a specifically-designed training and teaching package for all successful applicants and a designated Consultant Educational supervisor. The ED has 24/7 registrar grade clinical cover & extended Consultant cover from 8am until midnight 7 days a week, and a resident Trauma Team Leader rota. Post holders in this grade will participate in the registrar grade rota. Duties within the Emergency Departments will cover the whole range of clinical responsibility for those patients seen in the Emergency Department.
The duties of the Specialty Doctor will include: taking a lead role in the management of acutely ill or trauma patients. The qualities of leadership required as head of a team are stressed and it is anticipated that these qualities will be gradually learned through the process of supervision of more junior doctors and involvement in their education - both formal and informal. There is opportunity to take part in trust run leadership courses over the 5 years, be expected to prioritise and time-manage effectively according to the activity of the department and to utilize appropriately the available senior staff for advice, the trust encourage the post holder to complete work based placed assessments to allow documentation of their own development and to meet the CESR requirements. Performance will be assessed by your educational supervisor, the educational faculty and by CESR annual review in line with the requirements of the 2021 RCEM curriculum. We are also able to support candidates further along in their CESR pathway and those who may remain on the 2015 curriculum and pride ourselves on a tailored approach to each individual & the post holder will be fully involved in supporting the training of all levels of staff: medical; nursing; para-medical. Among groups who regularly attend the Departments are Student Nurses, Ambulance Paramedics, Pharmacy students and student radiographers.
